תודעה של מקום

כשם שבנייה של מקום היא פיסית, בנייה תודעתו של מקום היא בנייה קוגניטיבית.

הכוונה היא לאופן שבו מיוצג המקום, כפי שהוא נתפס במוחו של האדם אשר מבקר בו. האדם מגבש במוחו “דגם” לכל מקום שהוא נמצא בו או מתייחס אליו.

עבודה יסודית של טיפול בחוויית משתמש לוקחת בחשבון מעבר להיבט הפיסי, גם את הדגם של המקום כפי שהוא נתפס אצל המשתמש.
להלן מספר פרמטרים עליהם ניתן להשפיע בעבודות תכנון חווית משתמש:

  • תיחום המקום.
    לעיתים גבולותיו של מקום הם נרחבים יותר, או מצומצמים יותר, מכפי שמקובל לחשוב.
  • התבדלות / היטמעות.
    מה יטיב עם המקום? האם כדאי לייצר רצף עם הסביבה המקיפה אותו או דווקא היבדלות ממנה?
  • מסרים חזותיים במקום.
    מהו אופיים של מסרים אלה ומהי מידת נוכחותם?
  • סינוף (מהמילה סניף).
    אפשרות להגדיר את המקום כסניף או שלוחה של מקום אחר.
  • חלוקה לאגפים.
    דרכים שונות לחלוקת מקום לנתחים קטנים, מה שיכול לעזור למשתמש להתמצא בו.
  • אוריינטציה.
    לתת למשתמש את ההבנה היכן הוא ממוקם ביחס למקום שבו הוא נמצא.
